SPIRITUALIST CHURCH SERVICES
THE DIVINE SERVICE
Sunday 2.00pm
While there is still a demonstration of Clairvoyance at a divine service, you will find that there are also more hymns and prayers, and the philosophy, which is more or less equivalent to a sermon in an orthodox church, in which the medium shares his/her opinions with the congregation, often with regard to the seven principles of spiritualism. This is their own opinion only, and you may not agree with everything they say, but it should give you something to think about. The divine service also includes a silent moment for absent healing, and a reading from any source, chosen by the chairperson
CLAIRVOYANCE
Monday 2.00pm and Thursday 7.30pm
The term clairvoyance is used loosely in describing services at which mediumship takes place, where different types of mediumship are used. Clairvoyance strictly means "Clear seeing", There is also clairaudience, meaning "clear hearing", and clairsentience, meaning "clear sensing", and these describe the ways in which spirit people make themselves known to the medium. These are all forms of mental mediumship, meaning only the medium is aware. In physical mediumship, the spirit is seen or heard by all present, but you will not see physical mediumship at a public service or demonstration The medium will pick out people in the congregation, one at a time, up to possibly about six during the course of the demonstration, and will pass on information that is being given to him/her by the spirit people, which is evidence to prove their survival. The type of evidence you may get, are names, places they have lived, work, hobbies, personality, memories known only to the spirit person and the recipient, and many more types of information. The more specific is the information, the better is the evidence. If you receive a message you should only answer the medium with a yes or no. If you tell them anything, it may be something the spirit person wishes to say, and then the opportunity for giving that evidence is lost. You will often find the chairperson instructing the congregation not to feed the medium, and this is what they are referring to, not saying that mediums should be starved!
No specific results can be promised at any service, indeed every demonstration of mediumship has to be always regarded as an experiment. We do not ask you to be gullible, - be sceptical, be critical of the evidence you receive, be objective in assessing it, but do come to the meeting with an open mind, and with love in your heart. Mediums are susceptible to vibrations and find it harder to work in a hostile atmosphere. And if you do not get the evidence at your first visit, give spiritualism a chance, and come again. You will always be welcome.
OPEN CIRCLE
Wednesday 7.30pm
This is your chance to test out your own mediumship. Any impressions you feel are from spirit, you can give out in the open circle. which is led by a different medium each week. There is no clairvoyance from visiting mediums, it is your evening. All sit round in a circle, so all are on a level of friendship. All get a chance to give off, under the medium's guidance. Experienced mediums can help others, those training have a chance to get some practice, newcomers can get evidence and a chance to ask about spiritualism, and maybe discover latent spiritual awareness! it is for everyone, no-one is pressurised, but everyone is encouraged, all in a lovely friendly and cordial atmosphere. an excellent introduction for those new to Spiritualism!
ABSENT HEALING CIRCLE
Friday 8.30 - after the healing
In a relaxed atmosphere we join together and are led into a light meditation, and send out our prayers and our healing thoughts for the sick. Often you can feel the power in the circle, as all join together to a common purpose, helped by the spirit people, whose presence we often feel, directing the power and Love of God to those who are sick. As you sit in the circle, you will not only send out your love to others, but you will find you receive healing yourself. All are welcome to join in the healing circle. If you are unable to come for healing, ask for your name to go on our absent healing list. After the meditation, we discuss the feelings we had during it, usually we feel the peace, and sometimes people become aware of their guides or other spirit helpers joining in with the healing, and other beautiful experiences which they share with the circle.
ABOUT SPIRITUAL HEALING
Monday 12.15 - 1.15pm -, Friday 7.30pm
The source of healing power
As living creatures we are basically spirit, temporarily living in a physical body. That spiritual part of our being is a part of God, the source of all, and is permanently linked to that divine source. It follows that we are able always to draw on His divine love and healing power. The only thing that prevents us is the barriers that we ourselves put up, with our negative thoughts, such as fear, anxiety, anger, resentments etc. Spiritual healing is concerned primarily with our spirit selves, helping to clear away these barriers, and to replace these negative emotions with positive ones, such as love, forgiveness and confidence, bringing about a peace and harmony in our whole being, which then allows the healing energies to circulate. Most disorders are to a greater or lesser extent caused through our own inner selves, the greater the extent of this the more spiritual healing is an advantage, so that spiritual healing works best with emotional problems, and with those physical illnesses that stem from emotional problems, which applies to most illnesses to some extent. At the other extreme we have purely physical things such as a broken arm when medical attention is all that is needed and to allow nature to carry out the cure. In most cases it is a combination of both, and the best treatment is a combination of spiritual healing and medical treatment. Spiritual healers will never recommend anyone to stop seeing their doctor. It is always vital that this treatment continues as well as the spiritual healing. We cannot promise any cures with spiritual healing, but this does not mean they do not take place. In almost every instance people do find relief of pain, greater relaxation and a gradual improvement in their condition.
The healer
Everyone has some potential for spiritual healing. It comes onto being through love of others and a desire to help, all mothers carry our healing when they pick up their child who has fallen and comfort him, and he feels better because of their love. Those who decide to dedicate themselves to healing learn to attune to spirit (or they do it naturally) by withdrawing from the material world around and thinking only of spiritual thoughts. This allows spirt healers to use their spirit to reach the spirit of the patient, and the healing then begins, from within. The healer does nothing apart from withdraw in this way, he cannot heal, but is only used as a channel. This is a very passive form of mediumship, and is completely different to clairvoyance, etc. so that a healer is not necessarily good at other forms of mediumship. In the SNU the healer has to take a course so that he is aware of the law relating to healing, and of the healers Code of Conduct, so you can be sure that nothing untoward will happen when you receive healing. The healer will only place his hands gently on or near to you, and it cannot hurt or cause harm in any way.
The patient
If you receive healing, do not be afraid af anything, as no harm can come to you. If you are not sure whether you believe in healing or not, it does not matter, so long as you do not put up any mental barriers with this. It is best to sit quietly and relax as much as you can, and try to keep your thoughts on happy positive things, as this helps the spirit healers to reach your inner self. The healing will last for a few minutes and you will probably feel a relief of pain and considerably more relaxed than before. If you continue to come for healing, you should find a gradual improvement in your condition, if this is something that is physically possible. If not, healing should bring some relief and comfort. We make no promises, but many times the improvement in a person's condition is greater than expected.
PRIVATE SITTINGS
Private sittings are held monthly in the church, usually on the first Saturday, unless something such as holidays causes us to change it.
Sittings are £12 per half hour sitting, with a deposit of £6 to book in advance, which is knocked off the price of the sitting. But you can ring up before the day or on the day to see if there are any vacancies or just come on chance, but this may mean you may not get a sitting, or you may have to wait a while.
In private sittings as in all clairvoyance messages, you should remember that this is not fortune telling, but the evidence to prove to you that your loved ones are still alive in another dimension, and to give them the opportunity to tell you that they still love you, just as they would with a letter or a phone call if they had emigrated. Do not tell the medium anything about yourself, the evidence comes from them telling you, not the other way round, just tell them whether they are right or wrong, and let me assure you that what our mediums tell you is practically always correct. Although your loved ones may give you advice, you should bear in mind, that they are very little different than when they were on the earth plane, especially if they have not been over long, and they have not suddenly become all-knowing. So you should treat their advice in the same way as you would if they were still here, consider what they say but make up your own mind.
Everyone who has had private readings with us has been happy, but we do promise that, if the medium for any reason should be unable to make contact with your loved ones, your money will be refunded. you must say so by the first 15 minutes is up, after that you will be deemed to have accepted the sitting.
Enjoy your sitting
And, after the service, why not come into one of our two tea rooms and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, have a chat, and maybe have a look at the display of crystals and jewellery we have for sale?
